POOL ATLAS
A graphically informational atlas on pool design | Pittsburgh, PA
Partner | Cesar Neri

Spring 2017 | Carnegie Mellon University

OVERVIEW |
The Timber Atlas was the preliminary research phase in preparation for TIMBER STUDIO. The atlas was comprised of four main research areas: site, structural systems, steam bending and pool design, and was to be a shared studio resource to encourage broad thinking about complex material arrays, construction of bent wood and the natatorium as a building type.

The pool design atlas visually communicates the technical specifications for pool design, such as the dimensional, geometric and material constrains of the pool types listed in the project brief (Olympic, diving and zero-entry family pool). It also provides relevant precedent for indoor pool design, as well illustrates how the technologies for these structures have changed over time.
